Boston restaurant chain to open new location in the suburbs

Restaurants in Boston and surrounding areas are gearing up for a long wait for their next meal, with Boston-based Boston Restaurant Group planning to open a new location on the North Shore next year.

The company is in talks with owners of several Boston-area restaurants about opening a new restaurant in the city’s Fenway neighborhood, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Boston-headquartered company has not publicly announced the location.

The Fenway site is located a few blocks from Boston’s historic North End neighborhood.

The restaurant, which will have seating for 200, could open in early 2019, according the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are private.

The locations would mark the company’s first Boston location since it announced it would open a restaurant in downtown Boston last year.

Boston Restaurant group has a long history of dining in the Boston area, dating back to its founding in 1958.

The group’s other locations in Massachusetts include the restaurants of the same name in Providence, Massachusetts; the Long Island City, New York; and Long Island, New Jersey.

The new restaurant is likely to be an expansion of a smaller Boston location that opened in 2014 in North Point.
